A Day in the Life of a Cat Photographer with a Cat Groomer!
What do we have in Common?
I had the pleasure of spending the day with Katie, an amazing woman and fellow "Krazy Katz Lady," just as passionate about cats as I am. Katie is an award-winning mobile specialist in cat grooming, behaviour, and holistic therapy. We both share a commitment to providing stress-free, in-home services, understanding that a cat's comfort in its own environment is paramount. As we say, the mere sight of a carrier can send them running!
Our journey took us across the North West of England, filled with Katie's captivating stories. She recounted tales of helping clients with everything from de-matting long-haired Maine Coons to providing gentle claw clipping for senior cats who no longer groom themselves as they used to. Katie's dedication to providing the best care for these furry companions is truly inspiring.
Upon arriving at each appointment, I was introduced to Katie's clients, who graciously allowed me to photograph her at work. After a few test flashes to ensure the cats were comfortable (they were!), we got down to business. It was awesome to watch Katie brush, comb, de-mat, and even shave as needed. Her hands moved with such assurance, feeling and listening to each cat's body language to understand their needs.
With years of experience, Katie has encountered all types of feline personalities – from the friendly and cooperative to the growlers and scratchers. But she understands that it's never the cat's "fault." They're simply communicating what's bothering them, and she expertly addresses their concerns to make them feel better. And, of course, they always seem to come away thinking, "Was that it?" and "What was I fussy about?" A little treat before we depart always seals the deal!
I have to say, it was the best day to be with another Krazy Katz Lady who is as passionate as I am.
